It's that time of year again!!

Our Shincha (new tea) will be here soon and it is an exciting time of the year for tea lovers. As we have done for the past several years, we will air-import Hashiri Shincha, Shincha Kunpu and Shincha Houryoku once they are available. We are pleased to annouce that we are starting to accept pre-orders now! "Shin" means new, and "Cha" means tea. Shincha, often called the first flush tea, is made from the tea picked during the first harvest in the spring. The first harvest of the year, usually from April to May, produces the highest quality tea in Japan.

Hashiri Shincha: Hashiri means the “first (harvest or catch) of the season” and our Hashiri Sincha is just that. It is the first of the first flush teas. It is made from the very young leaves and buds of the tea plant. For past several years, our Hashiri Shincha was grown exclusively on the Moriuchi Tea Farm where it was picked by hand. Tea grown at this farm has received many awards and the farm has been selected as a tea supplier for the Emperor’s palace. Hashiri Shincha is $27 for 2 oz. ($30 after 5/1) Gift cans are $34 for 2 oz ( $38 after 5/1)

Shincha Kunpu: Kunpu means “Aromatic Wind” and it comes from the Honyama region of Shizuoka. It is lightly steamed with a woodsy aroma and a natural sweetness similar to fresh green vegetables. Shincha Kunpu is $21 for 2 oz ($24 after 5/1)

Shincha Houryoku: Houryoku means “Sprouting Green” and it comes from the Makinohara region of Shizuoka. It is a Fukamushi Sencha in that it is steamed longer than Shincha Kunpu. It produces an emerald lid full of herbaceous flavor. Shincha Houryoku is $21 for 2 oz ($24 after 5/1) Gift cans are $28 for 2 oz ($32 after 5/1)

All 3 teas are available in 1 lb. Pricing is as follows:
